A Richmond-based pilot project is hoping to find the link between the quality of life for seniors and the number of medications a person takes.
Dr. Scott Garrison with Vancouver Coastal Health is hoping the study will receive enough funding to expand provincially, “We’re hoping that by minimizing medications and by minimizing the dosages of medications, that we can prolong people’s independence, delay admissions to nursing homes, and improve their quality of life.”
Garrison says it’s believed the more drugs a patient uses, the risk of adverse effects starts to outweigh the positive.
