— Vancouver police should ensure all officers working during an event, including those from outside agencies, are briefed on roles, responsibilities and contingency plans.
— Police and fire services across the region should train together and ensure their equipment is compatible.
— Vancouver’s transit police should develop protocols for seizing alcohol from transit riders.
— The province should consider banning alcohol on public transit systems.
— The minister of public safety should consider whether transit authorities need additional search-and-seizure powers to ensure transit riders aren’t carrying alcohol.
— The attorney general should establish a special court to deal with prosecuting people accused of riot-related offences.
— The development of a Twitter-like social media communications tool to communicate with spectators’ smart phones at public events.
— The Vancouver Canucks and the NHL should begin a program to encourage year-round responsible fan celebrations and sportsmanship.
— The NHL should partner with cities involved in a Stanley Cup run to ensure safe public celebrations.
