The Municipal Observer to the RCMP contract talks says concerns over the deal by some hold-out Mayors are overblown.
Langley City Mayor Peter Fassbender says Richmond’s Mayor shouldn’t put so much emphasis on the companion document, “And I am sure that Malcolm’s (Brodie) staff as our staff have, have gone through the legal document and there will be no changes to the legal document in terms of content. It is just putting it in lay language. To me that should not be a non-starter. It is in final draft form, it will be sent out shortly to everyone.”
Fassbender says the Province will hold firm on costs over the new RCMP Headquarters in Surrey in entirely separate negotiations. He says he also expects savings not costs for funding the Integrated Teams.
