Regional Districts: Will they stay or will they go?

The Township of Langley will have an open mind as they head into a meeting this week about possibly leaving Metro Vancouver.

Mayor Jack Froese says on a scale of one to ten, his municipality is about a five for leaving Metro Vancouver.

That said, Froese says he will meet with fellow Mayors in Abbotsford on Friday to discuss options which include forming a new Regional District, or jumping into the FVRD, “You never say once and for all. I think it can always come back and I think in doing our due diligence. There is nothing wrong with taking a look at the relationships that we do have with our Regional Districts and neighbouring municipalities and see if we can do a better job and if we can’t, then just leave things well enough alone.”

Abbotsford Mayor Bruce Banman says the meeting will include the Langley’s, Mission, and Chilliwack to deal, “once and for all,” with the Regional District issue.
