Review underway after boy snatched during supervised visit

Children’s Minister Stephanie Cadieux says a review is underway after a three year old boy was snatched by his father during a supervised visit and taken over the border into Montana.

“The reality of supervised visits is that they take place in a variety of settings, they may be in the community, they may be in a family home or in offices of the minstry or others. They aren’t “locked” settings, and if a parent chooses to flee with their child during one of the visits, it’s unlikely the supervisor would be able to stop it without putting their own safety at risk”

An Amber Alert was issued when the three year old boy from the Elk Valley area was taken into Montana.

He was found unharmed the next day and his father is now facing charges.
