Riot suspect arrested on Vancouver Island

Victoria Police have arrested a man who  wanted for his role in last June’s Stanley Cup riot.

In a release, police say the 26 year old was arrested early this morning in Esquimalt.

Police say the man is from Esquimalt and had been staying on a boat in the West Bay Marina.

He is alleged to have damaged several parked vehicles and two police cars on June 15th.

Police say he was also seen jumping up and down on the panels of metal fencing.

The man is one who had recently been featured in the Integrated Riot Investigation Team’s “riot roundup 2” poster campaign.

Police say he had made a significant effort to alter his look so he wouldn’t be recognized.
