A middle-aged man is dead after something went wrong while he was scuba diving in the Brentwood Bay area Saturday.
Coroner Barb McLintock says the coroner was called about 4:00.
McLintock says they don’t yet know exactly what went wrong.
“But we know that the deceased gentleman was one of a party of three–he had two companions with him who were diving quite deep, they were down about 130 feet in Saanich Inlet when his companions noticed that something was wrong.”
McLintock says they tried to help him get to the surface, there was medical assistance and resuscitation efforts, but those efforts were unsuccessful.
She says they were all experienced scuba divers.
