The B.C. legislative committee that looks after the House’s fiscal governance has spoken out after a damning report by the Auditor General.
The committee, known as LAM-C, says it will meet next Tuesday to address the audit that found its records in a complete and utter mess.
Committee chair and Speaker of the House Bill Barisoff says John Doyle’s findings aren’t the reason the normally secretive committee is suddenly going public.
“In fairness, I think we have been working on this. I indicated to just about every press in British Columbia.”
But NDP MLA Shane Simpson, who also sits on the panel, disagrees: “That is the catalyst for the change and it has affected the change. I don’t think there is any doubt about that.”
The results of the meeting will be made public.
