Vancouver City Council has approved a 5-point-6 million dollar seismic upgrade of the Granville Bridge.
Graham Construction and Engineering have the contract.
A special council meeting the morning unanmously voted to award the contract a month early to that firm, giving the contractors more time to prepare for construction.
The city says it will be working with Granville Island to make sure disruptions are minimized during the project.
