Senior citizen stabber gets life

The man who stabbed a 79-year old more than 130 times has been sentenced to life in prison.

65-year old George Phillip Holt was found guilty of second-degree murder last November. He stabbed Reginald Haynes 134 times in a room at the Columbia Hotel on the downtown eastside in August of 2004. The crime went unsolved for years, until Holt was arrested in 2009.

During his trial, it was testified that Holt had a fear of homosexuals, and, “lost it,” after the 79-year old Haynes allegedly offered to pay him for oral sex. Holt testified that he was also high on cocaine at the time.

During sentencing submissions, Holt appeared in a wheelchair, taking oxygen.

He’ll have no chance of parole for 10 years.
