Senior wounded in shooting at Surrey legion

A man in his 60s has been wounded after a shooting outside the Legion hall in Whalley.

Surrey RCMP Insp. Randall Marquardt says Mounties heard the shots from the police station.

“(We) attended the scene and nearby, they located a male suffering from gunshot wounds.  We’re just interviewing witnesses right now.

“It appears at this stage that it’s a targeted shooting and that the shooter is known to the victim.”

No arrests have been reported so far.

The victim’s injuries are believed to be serious – he was shot in the chest as a party was wrapping up.

All of this unfolding near 105A Avenue and 135 Street shortly after 3:30 a.m.
