“Shadow of fear” hangs over local park

FIghting back tears, a former Vancouver City councillor and brother of a woman murdered in Pacific Spirit Park near UBC four years ago says “a shadow of fear’ still hangs over the park.

Peter Ladner says his family members are not the only ones affected by his sister Wendy Ladner Beaudry’s death, but says the community is also suffering.

He says no one travelling alone in the park is safe.

“The shadow of fear continues to hang over this park. It compromises the safety and enjoyment of thousands of park users as this case drags on, unsolved. No one, especially women walking or running alone, should be in this park without being aware this is an unusually dangerous place.”

A motive for the murder still hasn’t been established and police also can’t say if it was random.
