For the first time since March, B.C. small businesses report higher levels of optimism, according to the latest survey by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
For the first time in four months, the survey reports confidence levels increased in B.C. last month.
The federation’s business barometer index rose from 56.4 in August to 59 in September, mirroring the upward trend across Canada.
Levels between 65 and 75 generally indicate a growing economy.
B.C. is now in seventh place nationwide in business optimism, up last month from eighth place, which now goes to Nova Scotia.
Almost three quarters of respondents also say they don’t plan to change full-time employment levels.
More than half say taxes and regulations are the biggest cost pressures.
