A small plane has crashed at the airport in Pitt Meadows.
Assistant fire chief Brad Perrie says it happened about 7:40 a.m.
“We arrived on scene and we had a homebuilt single engine aircraft that had lost power on take off and crashed into a ditch beside the runway. When we arrived, the plane was fully engulfed in flames. The single occupant had managed to escape the aircraft just before our arrival and was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital.”
The pilot is being treated for minor burns, and perhaps some other injuries.
Not clear yet why his aircraft lost power.
