Snowboarder dies on Whistler Mountain after hitting head

A day of snowboarding on Whistler Mountain has ended in death.

RCMP say two boarders, a woman and a 24-year-old Australian man, found themselves on steeper terrain than they could handle yesterday, and tried to walk down the hill.

But the man slipped, fell and hit his head among some trees.

He was flown by helicopter to the Whistler Health Care Centre, and later was transferred to Vancouver, but succumbed to his injuries.
