So far no snow trouble for city crews in Vancouver tonight.

It’s been a busy day for City of Vancouver crews responsible for clearing snow off the roads.

Street operations manager Murray Wightman says no major problems are expected tonight.

He says “Well, so far, so good. We’re driving on bare asphalt right now on all the majors and bus routes.  The main concern more than anything is the temperatures dropping and you know, some of the moisture areas starting to ice up. We have an awful lot of treatment down on the roads, so hope things will just stay like they are right now.”

Wightman says key problem areas in the past have been Boundary road, as well as Oak street between 6th avenue and Broadway.

As for why the sidewalks around city hall weren’t cleared before 3pm, Wightman says that work is usually left for the contractor who takes care of all the grounds.

City bylaws require all property owners in Vancouver to clear their sidewalks by 10am.
