Soothing a touchy situation

A pro-life group at Kwantlen Polytechnic University has been given the green light, after members threatened to sue for being denied status.

President Oliver Capko says he’s very relieved that the student union has voted to reverse an earlier decision and now fund them.

He says the members will start organizing events once next semester starts, “The main focus would be to get a message out there, open a conversation for discussing bio-ethical issues, like abortion.”

The student union initially voted against the group, saying it conflicted with its own pro-choice stance. But they changed their minds this week, deciding that to spend student fees on fighting a group’s lawsuit was not a good idea.
