The temporary bronze laughing statues in Morton Park near English Bay could be a permanent fixture in Vancouver’s West End.
Vancouver Park Board chair Constance Barnes told CBC that an anonymous donor has come forward to foot the bill for the A-Maze-ing Laughter piece, which originally retailed at $ 5 million. She added the Chinese artist dropped the asking price to $ 1.5 million.
The CBC reports the park board will vote at the end of March on whether it will accept the donation and decide if it will permanently keep the statues at English Bay.
