A strike at Canadian Pacific Railway could mean headaches for some transit users in Metro Vancouver.
That’s because C.P. provides the track space for Translink’s West Coast Express trains.
The Teamsters have served 72-hour strike notice, which could start as early as Wednesday morning.
Local 320 vice-president Craig Brown says his members work as both engineers and conductors on West Coast Express trains.
As for what’s prompted the strike mandate?
“[Canadian Pacific] is after concessions on our pensions and different working conditions and such that are totally unacceptable to our position here.”
Translink’s contract with C.P. expires three years from now.
Translink has yet to say how it plans to deal with a possible work stoppage.
