Student gets involved in Trustee censure

A high school student who wants two Vancouver School Board Trustees to step down, has begun a campaign on Facebook.

On the page, Grade 12 student Eli Fast, includes a letter for people to send to Ken Denike and Sophia Woo, “The templates or message to send them is just kind of like a guideline in what they have not done and what they have done, the actions that they have taken and to ask them to resign.”

This all stems from controversial videos online. In one, Denike and Woo are seen telling a group that Vision Vancouver wanted to put gay and lesbian issues into the curriculum.

The School Board voted to censure the trustees at a Monday-night meeting, claiming they’d spread misinformation about its anti-homophobia policy.

Denike has said he supports the policy, but wants better oversight.
