Surrey awards furnishing contract

Surrey City Council has awarded a 4-million dollar contract to Heritage Office Furnishings to furnish the new six-storey city hall.

Councillor Barinder Rasode says the price is reasonable considering what they are getting.   “It’s not only like furniture but it’s all the fixtures in the new City Hall including shelves, technical equipment and you know, we have a staff that serves a population of close to half a million people, and we need to provide them the tools to be able to do their job properly.”

Rasode says the money is coming from the capital budget for the new city hall and adds that the old furniture will be used in other city departments.
