Surrey Board of Trade: Natural gas collapse could compromise education, transportation

The Surrey Board of Trade made its needs and wants known to the B.C. government ahead of the release of next year’s provincial budget.
CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade Anita Huberman says a big part of the presentation focused on exploring how plummeting natural gas revenues will affect key areas of interest to Surrey.

“You need education, you need transportation and they both need to be efficient and first class to move the economy forward. When we see a collapse of revenues that are so significant that we heard last week it could compromise both items.”

Huberman adds the government committee has asked for clarification on where the board of trade stands on the carbon tax.
She says the board hopes to release a position early next week.
