A Surrey man who killed a teenager two years ago is appealing his sentence… saying the judge inappropriately rejected his expression of remorse.
In May, the judge didn’t believe Steven Mulligan-Brum when he said he wished he could turn back time to prevent the July 2010 death of Adem Aliu.
The 16-year old was shot by him after he noticed someone slashed the tires of his BMW.
At the time, he was on probation for uttering threats and barred from possessing a prohibited weapon.
After pleading guilty to manslaughter last fall, he claimed he had the gun because he felt his life was in danger.
The judge gave him two and a half years credit for time served, so he won’t spend more than four years, six months behind bars.
The victim was an immigrant from Kosovo who lived less than a block away from his killer.
In sentencing, the judge said there was no proof Aliu and his friends vandalized any vehicles in the neighbourhood.
