Suspect in Skytrain stabbing spree appears in court

Crown counsel wants bail denied for one of the two teen girls facing charges after a stabbing spree on Skytrain.

Crown says the 14 year old has a history of violence and was on bail at the time and should remain in custody as she is a safety risk.

Crown also wants a psychiatric assessment done.

Defence opposes the move says his client was not an instigator and a charge of assault is not serious enough to warrant the actions.

The girl, dressed in sweats, fidgeted, cried occasionally and shook her head at times, in one occasion mouthing the words “….oh my God”.

Transit police say the two have had more than 140 run-ins with authorities since January.

Three people were stabbed at or near three Skytrain stations last week
