Suspicious package on BC ferry cancels sailings

Delta Police say the RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit has determined a suspicious package found aboard a BC ferry is not an explosive device.

Constable Ciaran Feenan says police were notified around 3:00 Sunday afternoon.

The package was found shortly before the ship docked at Tsawwassen — the ferry was coming from Swartz Bay.

“And shortly after 4:00, the RCMP EDUnit confirmed that the package was not an explosive device and it was unfounded.”

The 3pm sailing from Tsawwassen and the 5pm return of that ship were cancelled.
