Teacher accused of molesting Coquitlam students finds out Monday if he will be convicted

A teacher accused of molesting five girls in Coquitlam finds out Monday if he’ll be convicted.

The Provincial Court Judge hearing the case against Aleksandr Plehanov reserved his decision in July.

The trial focused on the credibility of the victims, who all testified they were inappropriately touched by the substitute teacher when they were in grade two or three.

He’s seeking an acquittal based on claims the alleged abuse,-which dates back to January of 2008, was ambiguous and not overtly sexual.

Plehanov has been barred from entering any classrooms in BC since May of 2010.

Judge David St. Pierre’s verdict is slated to come down at 9:30am.
