Technology experts are gathering this weekend in Vancouver to give their time to help worthy causes.
It’s called Random Hacks of Kindness.
Renee Black with organizing group Peacegeeks hopes the event helps rehabilitate the term ‘hacker,’ which has negative connotations despite its dictionary definition of programming expert.
“It’s definitely a common understanding, and I think that certainly this event is hopefully going to be challenging it.”
The Vancouver event is one of 30 such gatherings worldwide in which experts link up with non-profits to help them sort out technological challenges.
