The Snow is Coming Down

Heavy snow is falling in much of Metro Vancouver, as predicted by CKNW’S Mark Madryga.

“Well initially we did have a little rain overnight but quickly it turned to snow and became heavy in quite a few areas.  The radar this morning is lit right up here and all across Vancouver Island, what I mean by that is showing extensive snow.  Now right near sea level it will be more mixed with rain with smaller accumulations but once you get away from the water and in the higher elevations and inland areas through the Fraser Valley it will stay as snow, at least until mid-morning, with total snowfall accumulations of 15 cm will be common, chance of up to 20 cm closer to the mountains.”

Mark says the wind will be a big problem this morning as well.

Southeast winds of 45 to 50 knots are over the Strait of Georgia, and that will likely mean ferry cancellations.
