This kind of behaviour is outragious

A Maple Ridge man’s facing charges after a dangerous crime spree across east Vancouver during the Wednesday afternoon rush hour.

Just before six, police got a call from a man saying someone had just stolen his truck near Campbell and Hastings. Soon after, the truck slammed into a car nearby, injuring the driver.

The suspect then continued on and eventually dumped the truck.

He then ran up to an 80-year-old woman sitting in her car and slashed the woman in the neck. The woman managed to get out of her car and the suspect fled in her vehicle.

Soon after, police took the man into custody at gunpoint.

Constable Lindsay Houghton says it could have been a lot worse, “It appears this man had a lot of motivation driving the stolen truck around getting into collisions, driving the vehicle after a significant amount of damage and then car-jacking a car from an 80-year-old woman at knifepoint.”

The 40-year-old suspect has a lengthy criminal history.

The elderly woman suffered superficial wounds.
