Township willing to look at casino complex proposal

While Surrey shows the BC Lottery Corporation Casino and Entertainment Complex proposal the door, the Township of Langley is rolling out the welcome mat.

Mayor Jack Froese says while they haven’t actually talked to BCLC they are interested, “We are open to it. We certainly would want to take a look at it. A few years ago it was before us and the City of Langley got one. But I think times have changed. Our Council has changed, and peoples attitudes towards casinos have changed.”

Froese says they even have some property near the Langley Events Centre that would work, “There (are) other spots around 200th north Langley. There, I think, might be suitable. And you are right close to the freeway, close to transit, its a good spot.”

He says a casino combined with a convention centre and hotel would be a good asset for the Township.
