Two transit police officers accused of beating a UBC student during a routine fare check are facing disciplinary action.
In May, the police complaint commissioner confirmed both officers were being investigated for excessive “use of force” following an incident last summer.
The UBC student never filed a formal complaint, but his injuries were serious enough and he ended up going to emergency.
The officers haven’t been charged with anything yet, but a review recently completed by the disciplinary authority has substantiated the alleged offences.
The officers must now decide whether to plead guilty to using excessive force or to demand a hearing.
No word yet on how long that process will take.
