Transit Police bust counterfeit operation

Transit Police say a six-month investigation into fake transit passes has ended with charges against two Vancouver men.

47-year old Jamie Richardson and 65-year old Daniel Blair are each facing several charges.

Transit Police say they started to notice good quality bogus transit passes being used about six months ago.

An investigation was launched and a suspect identified in the production and selling of the passes, mainly in the downtown eastside.

Richardson and Blair were arrested after a sting operation.

Computers, laminators, printers, and several dozen pre-made passes were seized.

Transit Police say the preliminary revenue loss has been assessed at over $ 200,000.
