A provincial government audit of Translink has suggested $ 41 million a year in cost-efficiencies could be found through implementing 27 recommendations, including reducing the frequency of skytrain during off-peak hours.
The transit authority’s board chair says some steps would need to be taken first before that would happen.
Nancy Olewiler calls the audit “advice” and says Translink would have to look at service area cuts very carefully.
“We do not change a route or impact our customers without a lot of consultation.”
Olewiler says it’s up to management and the board to decide whether reducing service is in the interests of the region.
