Translink going all-out to ensure passenger safety

Translink’s CEO says staff are making every possible effort to make sure transit riders are safe.

This, after a bomb was discovered on the Skytrain tracks last week.

Ian Jarvis says Translink will determine whether they need to change procedures, once the dust settles on the investigation.

“Certainly, it’s in the hands of transit police and police are the experts on this. We just need to give assurance to the public that we’re doing everything we can in supporting and creating a safe environment on our transit system.”

He says that was the first time a bomb had been found on the transit system.

But four similar discoveries of suspicious items followed, all at Skytrain stations, and all false alarms.

Since Friday, Transit Police say they have increased patrols.
