Trial begins for another accused Stanley Cup rioter

The case against another accused Stanley Cup rioter goes to trial Monday in Vancouver.

Spencer Kirkwood was one of the first twenty-five people charged after chaos erupted in Downtown Vancouver causing up to four million dollars worth of damage.

The twenty-six-year old from Vancouver has been charged with one count each of mischief and participating in the June 15th, 2011 riot.

Many of the nearly thirty people already sentenced have been allowed to serve their time on weekends or volunteering in the community.

The harshest punishment so far has been last month’s sentence of 20 months against Kevin Mercier.

He’s a forty-six-year old man who already served six years in prison for manslaughter.
