Troubled RCMP officer will remain in BC

Despite the outcry, BC’s top cop Mountie says the decision remains: a disgraced RCMP officer will resume his career here in British Columbia.

RCMP Deputy Commissioner Craig Callens ays he accepted that Sgt. Don Ray could work here.

Callens says this is the best place for Ray to continue his career because there is “zero tolerance” for the conduct Ray admitted to while in Edmonton.

He was punished for drinking on the job and having sex with subordinates.

He’s now been transferred to an undisclosed location in BC.

“Was the decision to accept his transfer an easy one? Obviously not. While others may have looked at the circumstances and simply decided that it was not their problem and to let somebody else deal with it, that is not my way or how I lead.”

Callens says Ray will be closely monitored.
