Trustees in hot water over video

The Vancouver School Board has passed a motion to reaffirm its support for its ant-homophobia policy and to censure Trustees Ken Denike and Sophia Woo for spreading mis-information about the policy.

Denike says in all his years as a trustee he has never been accused of homophobia. He says his attempt to keep parents informed has resulted in the accusations of homophobia. He calls these “pure slurs”  that are about one party attempting to score cheap points against members of another.

This all comes after two controversial videos surfaced online. In one of those videos Denike and Woo were shown telling a group of Chinese Christians that Vision Vancouver wants to put gay and lesbian issues into the curriculum.

Denike has said what he said in that video did not come across the way he intended.
