Tsleil-Waututh joins opposition to pipeline expansion

A local First Nation is joining the calls to stop the proposed Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion.
The Tsleil-Waututh Nation has signed the ‘Save the Fraser’ declaration, adding its voice to over 100 First Nations opposing the proposed Kinder Morgan expansion.
Chief Justin George says the risks of the pipeline outweigh the benefits.

“Oil port cities become dead zones and Kinder Morgan is proposing Vancouver become an oil port city and I believe with all my heart that Vancouverites and British Columbians stand a lot to lose if this goes through.”

The Tsleil-Waututh signed the declaration at the Whey-Ah-Wichen Weekend Canoe Festival.
