Two B.C. Liberal staffers resign

The winds of change are blowing through B.C.’s Liberal party, but at least two MLAs say it’s no defection.

Environment Minister Terry Lake confirms the party’s executive director, Chad Pederson, has resigned, effective the end of May, to take a position with a nonprofit organization.

“I understand he’s leaving on very good terms. There’s no ill feelings as far as I’m aware.”

The party’s director of communications, Jehnnifer Benoit has also quit, but MLA Kevin Kreuger describes that as coincidence.

“A lot of the young people who work for us move on to other types of jobs and tend to really progress in their careers.”

Krueger says a riding president from the Interior is also leaving, but that’s because he’s moving from one area of B.C. to another.
