Union passed over by Provincial audit

The union representing bus drivers is warning the results of a Provincial audit into Translink will just mean service cuts and fewer buses.

Canadian Auto Workers Local 1-11 President Don MacLeod says the 139-million a year in savings are in part a result of trimming services.

MacLeod says transit in Metro Vancouver is already short of where it needs to be and is facing increasing demand, with no money to fund growth, “Well, you can’t balance it off unless they get to first of all dealing with the interim resolution which is the motion that will be in front of them by the end of the week on the interim property tax which at least would get some uplift into the system the reality is we have to talk about the big picture here.”

MacLeod says the Province spent big bucks on the audit yet didn’t bother to talk to a single transit worker.
