Unions are heading back to court over claims HD Mining is refusing to follow a judge’s order to turn over documents relating to the hiring of temporary foreign workers.
And unions say Federal Human Resouces Minister Diane Finley isn’t even aware of what’s going on in the case involving a new mine in northern BC.
BC federation of labour president jim sinclair says they’re now filing a contempt of court application against Finley because the government was unable to step in and obtain the documents.
“Unfortunately this is all taking us a long way away from where we want to be, which is in court deciding whether or not the company was legitimate and the government made the right decision when they allowed them to open the mine for four and a half years without hiring a single Canadian underground.”
Sinclair says the case is costing unions tens of thousands of dollars in court expenses.
