Use ad money to fix Court system

The NDP have a suggestion for the Premier instead of spending millions on government advertising why not use the money to unclog the justice system.

Leonard Krog says the guilty are walking away free, all because of the slow crawl of the Courts.

Krog says the Province could invest in legal aid instead of advertising to help speed things up, “Judges are forced to bend over backwards when they have self-represented individuals in front of them. It makes it more difficult, it makes scheduling difficult, it makes it tough on prosecutors, it makes it tough on other parties who are represented by lawyers. It just is an overall cost driver and Court clogger essentially.”

The Trial Lawyers Association of BC has been in a long running public battle with the Province over cuts to legal aid.
