Use of Tasers to be examined again

A special eight person all-party Legislative Committee looking into the use of Tasers will also audit police complaint cases.

NDP MLA and Vice-Chair of the Committee, Kathy Corrigan, says they will look at the effectiveness of the police complaints process.

But, Corrigan says the RCMP will not be included, “It will be the Police Complaints Commission. So, to date, that is not the RCMP, that is the municipal police forces. There is a separate Federal Complaints Commission.”

Corrigan says they will conduct a random audit of the misconduct cases handled by the Office of the Police Complaints Commissioner.
