Vancouver Island police identify woman’s body

VANCOUVER – Mounties on Vancouver Island have identified the body of a 33-year-old woman who was reported missing Wednesday.

Elizabeth Marie Lagis was found dead off Highway 19, between Courtenay and Campbell River, Friday morning.

RCMP Cpl. Darren Lagan says the resident of the central coast community of Kingcome Inlet was last seen Wednesday in Campbell River.

He says the woman’s family reported her missing after she missed a medical appointment and failed to contact them.

Lagan says investigators have yet to determine a cause or even a time of death.

Investigators, including the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, continue to probe the circumstances of Lagis’ death.
