Vancouver mayor’s foster son in custody for drug and weapon charges

The former foster son of Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson will stay in custody for now.

Wearing an orange prison shirt, Jinagh Navas-Rivas appeared briefly in Richmond provincial court for what was supposed to be a bail hearing.

But the 21-year old, who is facing drug and weapon charges, does not have a lawyer so his case has been put over to January 19th.

The mayor’s wife, Amy, sat in the front row of the courtroom.

She told reporters she had not had a chance to speak with her former foster son, but she declined any further comment.
