The Vancouver Police Department has released its second quarter operating results – and they’re looking good.
At the halfway point of the fiscal year, the VPD is under budget by $ 453,000.
The department projects it will arrive under its $ 213-million annual budget by about a slim $ 100,000 at year’s end.
It expects to spend more than planned in some areas, however.
Criminal investigation costs are expected to be $ 1.4 million over budget, while legal costs, which the department describes as ‘unpredictable in nature,’ are also expected to exceed budget by $ 300,000.
The department chalks that up in large part to the B.C. Missing Women Inquiry.
