More than 50,000 people are expected Saturday at this year’s Vaisakhi Festival in Vancouver.
Expect music, bright colours, loads of food and tons of people.
Vaisakhi celebrates a major Sikh holiday on April 14th.
The main event, the parade, will wind through East Vancouver — from Ross Street to Southeast Marine Drive, up Main to East 49th, and eventually back to Ross.
Vancouver’s Transportation Director, Jerry Dobrovolny says,
“it’s a tremendously successful event and it attracts huge crowds. So beginning around 10 a.m. in the morning, road closures start. And roads are expected to reopen by about 5 p.m.”
Dobrovolny says if you’re not heading to the event, best to take an alternate route.
