VPD issue warning after muggings

He’s not your typical purse snatcher.

That’s what Vancouver Police are saying about a man who mugged two women –an hour apart– last night.

Constable Lindsey Houghton says this criminal is unique because he stopped to search the bags in front of his victims –rather than taking off….purse in hand.

“…..we don’t know what the rational is behind that specific m-o. that is similar in these two incidents which leads investigators to believe that it may be the same suspect.”

He’s a white man wearing dark clothing, a black baseball cap and carrying a black back-pack.

He only made off with a single Louis Vuitton wallet from the second victim and neither woman  was hurt.

The first mugging was near Alder and West Broadway around 10:30pm and the second was an hour later on Smithe near Thurlow.
