VSB Chair outraged by money spent on advertising

The Chair of the Vancouver School Board is fuming after a report that the BC Government spent 1-point-seven million dollars on ads to do with the teachers’ dispute, “I find that just outrageous at a time that school boards have been directed to tighten their belts, once again.”

Patti Bacchus says there are parents fundraising for basic supplies and schools have done things like shorten their calendars, and turn down their heat.

When asked whether the Government’s claim that the funds have not come from the education budget gives her some comfort, Bacchus says public money is public money, and it needs to be spent on needed services.
