VSB reaches agreement on days off

The Vancouver School Board has voted to have five closure days for the 2012/2013 school year rather than the current 10.

Trustee Ken Denike says those five will make up the second week of spring break, “But there will not be the five days spread throughout the year that created so much dismay amongst parents trying to fill in.”

Denike says about 100-thousand dollars a day will be saved for each of those days because teachers on call don’t need to be hired; the projected savings have contributed to balancing the 2012/2013 budget.
